The Blue Mingo Grill and its creative grill cuisine came into its own in 1994, when its predecessor, Dot's Landing, could no longer keep up with the local mariners' demands for some good, wholesome, nourishing food that was representative of the forward-thinking Boatyard establishment. The Grill quickly became known, both locally and abroad, for its fresh, innovative menus, its savvy sophisticated clientele, and the breathtaking views -- both by day and by night, in the rain or under the sun -- of the Lake and surrounding hillsides.

Sam Smith's Boatyard has been the heart of Otsego Lake's nautical community since 1956. The center of a busy boating community on Otsego Lake, it is here that the whole family can enjoy the sights and sounds of a bustling marine environment in full swing. The Boatyard is a full-service marine facility, with summer and winter storage, full mechanical and maintenance services, a bait and tackle shed and a fleet of rental boats, both large and small, to take you and your family and friends on a memorable adventure on our historic Lake.

At Sam Smith's Boatyard we rent kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle boards, fishing boats, speed boats, and pontoon boats. All boats may be rented by the half day, full day or multiple days. The price for multiple day rentals decreases the longer they are rented for.
Reservations must be made online and 50% of the rental will be charged at the time of reservation. If you are booking two days or less before the start of your rental, you will be asked to pay the full amount at checkout online. Life Jackets are included with each rental. No water sport activities such as tubing or water skiing are allowed with rental boats, and no refunds are issued for early returns or poor weather. You must be over 21 to rent a boat with a valid driver’s license present at the time of arrival.

On your way to the dining porches of The Blue Mingo Grill, you will pass through the delightful and ever-popular Lake Classic Outfitters, a boutique filled with tempting surprises for your house, your boat, your friends, your kids, and your very own self. Since its inception in 1987, Lake Classic Outfitters has been the "in" place to shop for both savvy Cooperstown residents and summer visitors, with a dazzling array of clothing designed for every occasion, from easy-going resort wear to classic casual chic. With shopping like this, you may want to come in well before your dinner reservation.
